Industrial Robots

Selecting an industrial robot for the complete application

Robot selection starts with the task rather than the model number. Define the payload at the wrist, required reach and working envelope, cycle time, mounting orientation, path accuracy, environmental conditions and the space needed for tooling, guarding and service. Payload calculations should include the end effector, cables, hoses and the part being handled. A robot that reaches the nominal point may still be unsuitable if joint limits, singularities or clearance reduce usable motion.

Information to establish before comparing models

Outer Reef can help translate these constraints into a robot, tooling and controls architecture. A useful review also documents assumptions, open interfaces and the tests needed to confirm cycle time and process performance. Review our robotics engineering capability or discuss the application before committing to a configuration.
